West Coast Peninsula Tour
This is an area characterised by wild countryside, beautiful coastlines, remote hamlets, and by more miles of single track road than you are likely these days to find anywhere else in mainland Scotland. Public transport in this area is very limited, so join Highland Scenic Tours for a day tour in this beautiful part of western Scotland.
The tour starts in the morning from Fort William. We will first visit Old Inverlochy Castle, before we continue to Neptune's Staircase and then on to Glenfinnan with the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct (also known as the 'Harry Potter bridge') and the Glenfinnan Monument. We follow the beautiful Road to the Isles -one of National Geographic's "best drives"- before we turn off at Lochailort into Ardgour. A visit to Tioram Castle is next on the program, followed by the long, but beautiful drive to the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. On the way we pass the Nadurra Visitor Centre - an excellent place for a lunch break-, and the Ardnamurchan Distillery. On our way back, a stop at the Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide is optional. Via Strontian and Kingairloch we will drive to Ardgour. On this stretch of the route you might be able to spot otters and red deer. Then we take the Corran ferry and drive back to Fort William.
Although this tour gives you the best chance of seeing red deer, otters, seals and wild goats and if you are very lucky, a golden or sea eagle, this is not a wildlife tour and sightings can not be guaranteed!
